About Our Table

This was the state of our dining room table on a recent December evening. I wish I were joking! My husband and I spend so many of our waking hours clearing off this table so we can actually sit down for a family meal, but it’s like a magnet for junk. You take something off and put it away, and when you come back, there is a new something in its place.
This is my attempt to document what ends up on our white dining room table, from cooking triumphs to cooking failures, and random clutter that piles up on the table. And then there’s the clutter that piles up in my brain…I’ll be sharing some of that as well. Everything is on the table!
As you can probably tell, I’m using my iPhone camera. Not expecting any food photography awards for this site.
About Me

I live in Napa, CA with my husband, two daughters, and dog. People get super excited when I tell them I live in Napa, but really, it’s not much different than many small Northern California towns, except there are more hotels and tourists. And everyone drinks really good wine.
I work at Rancho Gordo in Napa, so you’ll probably notice a high percentage of beans coming out of my kitchen. Before moving to Napa, I worked as a cookbook editor in San Francisco. I’m still cookbook-obsessed and refuse to let go of my insane cookbook collection, even though it takes up way too much space in our already cramped house. Oh, and I co-wrote a cookbook for Rancho Gordo with Steve Sando. If you like beans, or want to like beans but can’t figure out what to do with them, get yourself a copy!
